Marcia Haynes founded the Dementia and Alzheimer Resource Committee, a 501(c)3 in 2014. In 2023, it was decided to rename the committee the Dementia & Alzheimer’s Association of St. Clair County (D.A.A.S.C.C.).
The purpose of the D.A.A.S.C.C. is to provide resources to caregivers and patients with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The D.A.A.S.C.C. is composed of key stake holders from St. Clair County (S.C.C.): AccentCare Hospice & Palliative Care of Michigan, Assisted Living Software, Council on Aging, SCC Community Mental Health, S.C.C. Health Department, McLaren Port Huron - Marwood Nursing and Rehab, SCC Sheriff’s Department, Blue Water Publishing, Grace Senior Living, Life Skills Centers, Medical Professionals and representatives of skilled nursing, day care, home care and caregivers. The money raised by the 5K Run/Walk will help local caregivers through the D.A.A.S.C.C. Respite Grant, D.A.A.S.C.C. Educational Speakers Series and a portion helps fund research at the Michigan Alzheimer's Disease Center.
